About this trip

A slower, more local take on the Matka area. Start high above Skopje at the Church of St. Panteleimon, whose 1164 frescoes are among the most important in Byzantine art, then wind down to the village of Gorno Nerezi — stone houses, quiet lanes and a village café for Turkish coffee. Finish at Matka Canyon with free time for a walk along the water or a boat ride.
